Sustainable cleaning charter for detergents

Companies in the detergents industry have been publishing an annual sustainable development report since 2005, inspired by the results of the Charter for sustainable cleaning, with number of participating companies growing year-on-year. The Charter is verified by external auditors and 240 companies signed up to it in 2016, of which 98 are active in Belgium, representing more than 85% of the detergents market. The signatory companies have introduced procedures for sustainable development throughout the whole life cycle of their products, and have committed themselves to improve their sustainability performance continuously. The indicators are published on an annual basis, with additional criteria introduced in 2012 and 2015.
