essenscia has initiated a feasibility study for the realisation of a specialised training centre for the life sciences industry in Flanders. The Flemish region has a world-class expertise in R&D, manufacturing, logistics and export of biopharmaceutical products. In order to strengthen its competitiveness on an international level the sector requires highly skilled professionals on a permanent basis. Therefore, a training centre with state-of-the art infrastructure and modern training facilities could prove to be an additional advantage for the pharmaceutical and biotech companies in Flanders.
The feasibility study was financially supported by Co-valent, the training fund of the sector, and was conducted in close collaboration with numerous experts from Alcon-Novartis, Janssen Pharmaceutica, Pfizer and Sanofi. This ensures that the study is aligned to maximum extent with the existing needs in the sector. In the next phase, a detailed business case will be developed in co-operation with several stakeholders in education, government administration and the industry. The results of the feasibility study were presented to the sector in October 2017.
